#SHETalks are ‘TED styled’ events designed to create platforms for both young men and women to engage in conversation; learn together and challenge negative social norms and attitudes; share ideas on issues affecting them; and be able to make informed decisions about their health, careers, and lives. The events also create a space for the youth especially young women to engage with role models and decision makers in ways that will contribute to inform gender transformative programming in the different sectors. The #SHETalks will be and are coordinated by Every Girl in School Alliance (EGISA) in Malawi and as a shared best practice in building an SRHR movement Ray of Choice Africa (ROCA) will be implementing the same idea in Uganda. The #SHETalks events are supported by Plan International and other stakeholders who, support specific events such as Oxfam and MHub, and provide thought leadership on girls’ rights and gender transformative programming in Malawi.
